Dennis Chwirchak age 74 passed away 4-12-23.
Devoted son of the late Michael and Annie (Kardamis) Chwirchak. Beloved brother of Michael Chwirchak Jr (Diane), Meriann Skory (deceased) and Diane (Jack) Ailor.
Loving Uncle Denny to Tracy Chwirchak and Jimmy Skory. Dear brother-in-law of John and Cortney Skory. Survived by Aunt Helen Racin, and many dear cousins and friends. Life-long friend of Keith and Lori Mooney, Bill and Pam Valichnac and John Valichnac. Caring neighbor of Doug “Sarge” Mayerhofer and Linda and George Louis. Denny was a graduate of Parma Senior High School class of 1967.
Denny was born on Christmas Eve 1948 the eldest of four children. He shared his Birthday with Uncle Nick Kardamis and cousin Bill Vojtek. Every year they called one another to say Happy Birthday.
When Denny was young our parents ran the business at The Ukrainian National Home, a social and gathering hall in Tremont. They lived in an apartment at The Ukrainian National Home for several years, moved to Parma in 1962 and eventually relocated to Brunswick.
Denny was 15 years old when our Dad suffered a major stroke. Denny had to assume many household responsibilities and was truly a Blessing to our Mom and family.
Denny was a hard worker, adventurous, and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and fishing with the Vojtek cousins at their cabin in Canada. He played the accordion, was on several baseball and bowling leagues, water skied, snow skied and practiced karate. He rode motorcycles and dirt bikes. Despite our Mom’s misgivings, Denny taught his siblings Mickey, Meriann and Diane how to ride dirt bikes. He enjoyed watching Cleveland Sports, especially the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) and the Cleveland Browns.
His favorite place in nature was Hinckley Lake. He enjoyed walking on the trails with his sister, Meriann and nephew, Jimmy. Denny looked forward to going to Kelly’s Island with Mickey, Diane and Tracy, and Amish Country with Jack and Diane. He especially enjoyed our annual Kardamis Cousin get-togethers at Sokolowski’s Restaurant in Tremont, always ordering Pork Chops for dinner.
He was very generous to his niece, Tracy, and nephew, Jimmy, especially for their Birthdays and Christmas. Our brother-in-law, John, always joked that he wished he had an Uncle Denny! Lastly, Denny was a devoted “Cat Dad” to Puffy and Angel.
Our family is grateful to the entire Hospice of Western Reserve Medina Team for their compassionate care and support. Many thanks to Corrine, Stacey, Sondra, Brenda, and on-call nurses Cathie and Donna. And special thanks to cousins Susan and Randy Jones, and family friends Bill and Pam Valichnac for their kindness, support and help throughout the years.
Denny was a simple man with simple beliefs. He had faith, was strong willed and held on to Hope. Rest in peace Denny. We love you bunches!
