KLAWDIA WASCHTSCHENKO (nee Ponomar) age 91, passed away peacefully April 12, 2017. Beloved wife of Iwan (deceased); loving mother of Victor (Jeanmarie), Anton (deceased) and Nina (deceased); cherished grandmother (Baba) of Natasha, Kathryn Gubanich (Gary) and Alexandra; dear great-grandmother of Gracynn and Gibson Gubanich; cherished (Baba) to her extended family: Paul and Janice Penny, Heather and Doug Higham, Jordan, Jackson and Tyler Higham, Matt and Netty Penny, Ellie and Drew Penny, Christopher and Margie Penny, David Penny, Tina and Tim Garth, Ryan Hoch and Ashley Hoch, Randy and Mary Lou Sabau; cherished Godmother to Valentyna Sopyn, Albuerque, NM. Born, June 20, 1925 in Ukraine and survived Soviet collectivization and loss of her father in Siberia. Survivor of Nazi Germany’s World War II occupation and forced labor program. Early benefactor of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church and parishioner of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral.

Funeral Service Tuesday, April 18 at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. (PLEASE MEET AT CATHEDRAL). Interment Brooklyn Heights Cemetery. Friends may make contributions in her memory to Holy Family Hospice, 6707 State Rd., Parma, Ohio or St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral.
