Michael Coffey

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michael Patrick Coffey of Parma, Ohio announces his passing on Saturday, March 2^nd, 2024, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.  He was a beloved husband of 43 years to Kathye (Kilbel), and a loving father to four daughters, Kim (Brian), Michelle, Nicole deceased, and Keighty (Steve).  He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Alex, Brooke, Alexander, Benjamin, Austin, Dominic, and Ginny.  Michael was a dear little brother to Nora, and was preceded in death by siblings, Patsy, Jimmy (Terri), Sheila (Gary), Colleen (John); parents, James and Evelyn (Huntoon); and feline companion, Buddy.  He was a dear uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Michael was a student at Collinwood High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 3 years.  He was a dedicated Firefighter with the Cleveland Fire Department, Engine 24 aka “The Wild Wild West” and was known to many as the “Mayor of Clark Avenue”. He was a man with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone, and constantly reminded his family of his love. Rest in peace and Godspeed, our dear Michael.  May angels wrap their arms around you to carry you home. Your absence leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, March 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Kolodiy-Lazuta Funeral Home, 5677 State Road, Parma.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 9, at 10 am at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 3434 George Avenue, Parma. Inurnment will take place on Friday, March 15, at 9:45 am at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Seville.
