Sam Calamia

SAM CALAMIA , age 93, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 26, 2019. Beloved husband of Eleanor ( nee Mamanello, deceased) and Joanne (nee Brykailo) for over 37 years; loving father of Cathy Calamia-Downing (Margaret), Francine Kuzma (Mark), Patricia Figas (Gregory) and Gregory Gurka (Patricia). Proud Papa of Matthew (Antoinetia) and Nicholas Kuzma, Carly, Alexandra and Micaela Gurka and Zachary Figas; dear uncle and great-uncle to the Bucci and Magoch families. Son of the late Joseph and Catherine (both deceased). Sam had a 40 plus career as an aeronautical engineer at NASA; retired Naval Officer (Lt. jg) and happy “Mr. Build-it or Fix-it” for anyone who needed help. The family would like to thank all the staff at The Danbury in Broadview Heights for the kindness and care given to Sam while he was a resident, and Kindred Hospice, especially Jamie who cared for him as if he was her only concern. Friends may call at THE KOLODIY-LAZUTA FUNERAL HOME, 5677 STATE RD., PARMA, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, FROM 4-8 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, September 30 at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W. 130th St., Brunswick. at 11 a.m. (EVERYONE MEET AT CHURCH). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
